Concerning the Capital and Business Alliance with Sumasapo Inc., a Real Estate Tech Company

ENECHANGE Ltd. announces that the Company resolved at the Board of Directors Meeting held on August 5, 2022, to enter into a capital and business alliance agreement (“the Alliance”) with Sumasapo Inc. (hereinafter referred to as “Sumasapo”). Through this partnership, we will provide our electricity and gas switching services to the rental real estate market of approximately 2.26 million households served by Sumasapo.

Purpose of the Alliance

Against the backdrop of soaring wholesale and raw material prices and the weaker yen in response to the global situation, prices of food, daily necessities, electricity, and gas have continued to rise. Electricity prices have increased by approximately 30% since last September*1, and a review of electricity and gas tariffs is attracting attention as an effective way to save on household budgets.

We offer two main services as part of our Platform business: ENECHANGE (for households) and ENECHANGE Biz (for companies). For households, our strength has been in online switching support, which provides a one-stop service from comparative diagnosis to switching application. However, as demand for switching is increasing as a result of movingng, we believe it is important to strengthen ties with real estate companies and property management companies that have a high affinity for moving.

Sumasapo, under its mission of “Supporting a Smart lifestyle – creating new value in the real estate industry with technology and ideas to enrich people’s lives,” provides new value in the area of communication between property management companies and rental tenants, which until now has been primarily offline. . Since the service was launched in 2016, Sumasapo has grown steadily, and as of August 5, 2022, it has 604 property management companies as clients, creating a channel that can reach approximately 2.26 million residents through these property management companies*2.

Through this alliance, we will provide electric power switching services utilizing Sumasapo’s established channels to real estate management companies and rental users, thereby strengthening its customer channels in the real estate sector and expanding usage opportunities.
