ENECHANGE starts providing API to EV charging service provider Digital Charging Solutions (Germany) for EV charging port information in Japan
ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tomoya Maruoka) has begun providing Digital Charging Solutions GmbH (Head Office: Berlin, Germany; CEO: Jörg Reimann; hereinafter referred to as “DCS”) the “EVsmart data API” from the “ENECHANGE Cloud EV” service. As an e-mobility service provider (eMSP) with the largest EV charging network in Europe, DCS now gains access to data on EV charging locations in Japan through this service provision.
Background
The government aims to establish a total of 300,000 charging ports by 2030, which includes 30,000 fast charging ports for public use. To build convenience into the charging experience, it’s crucial that various details such as precise charger locations, availability, output specifications, and pricing and billing data are shared in real-time among charge point operators. This will provide EV Charging business users with improved information and a seamless charging experience.
Currently, in Japan, charge point operators (CPOs) operate on their own protocols. For managing charging port data, including the output details of charging locations and precise coordinate information, the data must be consolidated and updated from the diverse formats supplied by the CPOs. The ENECHANGE Cloud EV platform facilitates this by providing such information to connected car applications and navigation systems through API linkage, thus enhancing convenience for EV users.
“ENECHANGE Cloud EV” and Digital Charging Solutions GmbH (DCS)
ENECHANGE has started providing data on EV charging locations in Japan to DCS, one of Europe’s largest EV charging network eMSPs, by offering its “EVsmart data API“ from our “ENECHANGE Cloud EV” service. DCS offers white-labeled public charging solutions for vehicle manufacturers (OEMs) and fleet operators, stemming from the mobility joint venture between BMW Group and Mercedes-Benz Group. It holds information on over 800,000 charging points across 31 markets globally, facilitating access to cross-border charging networks.*1
ENECHANGE supports the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI), a communication protocol between CPOs and eMSPs, to enhance communication and interoperability among various national and international EV charging networks, charge point operators, and service providers. This collaboration with DCS underscores ENECHANGE’s technical prowess and reliability. The company is committed to fostering partnerships with both domestic and international EV charging infrastructure services to offer EV users a more convenient and transparent charging experience.

Compliant with international standard, Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI)
The EVsmart data API offered by ENECHANGE Cloud EV adheres to the Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI), an international standard facilitating the public interface for EV charging ports between CPOs and eMSPs. By providing Japanese EV charging port data in compliance with OCPI, it simplifies the process for international car manufacturers, connected cars, and application services to introduce and utilize the data.
Comments from Ryoichi Nojima, Executive Officer, ENECHANGE Ltd.
We are very pleased that DCS has introduced our EV Charging Port Information API into its services for Japan. The OCPI format is widely adopted as a standard in overseas markets and we will be using this going forward. It is an advanced standard that is gaining attention mainly in Europe. ENECHANGE is at the forefront of adopting such advanced international standards, contributing to enhanced convenience for EV drivers and promoting the wider adoption of EVs, thereby further accelerating the move towards a decarbonized society.
