ENECHANGE installs nine EV Charge model at Three Accommodation Facilities in Akiu Onsen, Miyagi
ENECHANGE Ltd. announces that it has installed a total of nine (9) ENECHANGE EV normal-drive chargers in the parking lots for guests at three of Karakami HOTELS & RESORTS’ lodging facilities in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture: Hotel Zuiho, Akiu Grand Hotel, and Sakura-Rikyu.
Backgound
ENECHANGE is on a mission to expand Japan’s EV charging infrastructure with the goal of installing 30,000 EV charging ports by 2027, to help further the shift to EVs. We focus on destination charging, where drivers top-up part of the electricity used to arrive at the destination. We have been installing EV charging ports primarily at lodging facilities and golf courses as well as leisure facilities and commercial facilities. An increasing number of companies are considering the installation of EV charging ports as part of their ESG initiatives to improve employee and customer satisfaction and to shift to environmentally friendly buildings. The government subsidy program “Subsidy for Promoting the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure” can be used for installation, and the introduction of these systems is accelerating, taking advantage of our Zero campaign.
The Akiu Onsen in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, is one of the most famous hot spring resorts in the Tohoku region, with a long history and a line of hot spring hotels along the valley. All of these hot spring resorts have long been visited by guests from all over the country for lodging and day-trip bathing facilities. The nine EneChange EV chargers installed at the three facilities include six new units and three units upgraded from EV chargers installed eight years ago by another company. The facilities have expressed satisfaction with the space-saving design and the ease of use of the application payment system.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Miyagi Prefecture is 18.9, ranking 38th in Japan*. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
* Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2021), and population estimates for October 2021.
