ENECHANGE installs 6kW EV charging port at two AOKI stores Plans to expand installation to stores nationwide, starting with locations in Kanagawa and Aichi Prefectures
ENECHANGE Ltd. announces that it has installed Charge charging ports at two AOKI Corporation stores in Kanagawa Prefecture. Further installation of ENECHANGE EV Charge charging ports at AOKI stores will be expanded nationwide.
Background
With the government’s goal of increasing the percentage of electric vehicles in new passenger car sales to 100% by 2035, ENECHANGE has set a target of investing up to 30 billion JPY to install 30,000 EV charging ports in Japan by 2027. In particular, the company is focusing on destination charging, which sees users top-up their EV battery charge after arriving at their destination, and is actively promoting the installation of 6kW charging ports at lodging facilities, commercial facilities, leisure facilities, golf courses, and other locations where people stay for 2-3 hours or longer.
AOKI, a major suit specialty store with 497 stores nationwide, was the first in Japan to launch AOKI Wool Eco-cycle Project in 1996, which collects unwanted suits and other woolen garments for recycling and reuse into various recycled products, and has continued this project for over 25 years. In addition, AOKI has been proactive in addressing the SDGs by reducing CO2 emissions and promoting the creation of products with less environmental impact. As part of the company’s future agenda, the installation of EV charging ports was considered as part of its efforts to implement environmentally-friendly store design. Seven stores in Aichi Prefecture and three stores in Kanagawa Prefecture have already been selected to install ENECHANGE EV Charge, with plans to expand to other stores nationwide. The charging ports installed at AOKI Yokohama Mitsukyo store (Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture) and AOKI Tsukui Shiroyama store (Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture) have already begun operation, and will support the shift to EVs in the region and the realization of a decarbonized society.
