Installation of a 6kW Level 2 Charging Port at Gran Cube Osaka
ENECHANGE Ltd. (hereafter: “the Company”) is pleased to announce the installation of a 6kW Level 2 charging port under its ENECHANGE EV Charge brand at Gran Cube Osaka (Osaka International Convention Center).
Background
The government aims to make low-emission vehicles 100% of new passenger car sales by 2035. Alongside this, the government plans to increase the installation of EV charging ports to 300,000 by 2030, doubling the previous figure of 150,000. Destination charging in particular is expected to reach between 100,000 to 150,000 ports. To achieve this, installing more than 10,000 charging ports annually is necessary.
The Company aims to invest up to 30 billion yen by 2027 to install 30,000 Level 2 charging ports nationwide, with a focus on destination charging, where electric vehicles can be charged while users spend two to three hours or more at commercial facilities, leisure facilities, hotels, golf courses, and similar locations.
Gran Cube Osaka, located in the central part of Osaka city, is an international conference hall with excellent access from the Kinki and Chugoku regions. In October 2022, it became the venue for the first international planning meeting for the World Expo 2025, scheduled to be held in 2025. Moreover, the G7 Osaka Sakai Trade Ministers Meeting is scheduled to be held this month, making it an indispensable facility for international exchanges. Additionally, the facility is actively inviting conferences to promote SDGs and continuously working on SDGs by participating in the Beautification Enhancement Day led by Osaka City and cleaning the area around the facility. The introduction of EV charging ports to Gran Cube Osaka, which is garnering attention from both inside and outside Japan, is expected to contribute to the proliferation of EVs and the development of charging infrastructure domestically.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Osaka Prefecture is 16.8, ranking 43th in Japan*. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
*Based on the number of installed EV charging ports (6kW) by a secure app-based service provider (as of September 2023, according to GoGoEV).
