ENECHANGE and Golf Digest Online Collaborate on EV Charger Installation
ENECHANGE Ltd. has agreed to collaborate with Golf Digest Online, Inc. , one of the largest golf portal sites in Japan, to expand installation of ENECHANGE EV chargers. Through this collaboration, GDO aims to realize sustainable golf by encouraging the decarbonization of golf courses, driving ranges, and golfers.
Background
Against the backdrop of the Japanese government’s goal of increasing the percentage of electric vehicles in new passenger car sales to 100% by 2035, ENECHANGE has set a target of investing up to 30 billion yen to install 30,000 EV chargers in Japan by 2027. In particular, we are focusing on destination charging, in which a portion of the electricity used to arrive at a destination can be used to recharge the vehicle, and are actively promoting the installation of 6kW normal chargers at commercial facilities, leisure facilities, lodging facilities, golf courses, and other facilities where the time spent is two to three hours or longer. As a measure to promote installation, we are strengthening cooperation with partner companies that promote this initiative together.
In recent years, the value of SDGs initiatives has been rising in golf course operations, and in addition to energy conservation, progress has been made in the de-plasticization of golf carts and the electrification of golf carts. Since many visitors come to golf courses by car, it can be expected that the development of EV charging environments at golf courses will promote decarbonization and lead to the creation of a sustainable society.
Details of Partner Cooperation with GDO
GDO is a company that aims to broadly contribute to society through golf by operating one of Japan’s largest online golf media outlets and providing services for golf equipment sales, golf course reservations, golf lessons, and driving ranges. The collaboration will promote the decarbonization of golf courses by utilizing GDO’s huge golf network to conduct surveys and disseminate information on the EV shift to registered member golfers, and by proposing the installation of EV chargers for EV charging energy exchanges at more than 1,900 golf courses. The company will also propose the installation of EV Charging ENECHANGE EV chargers at more than 1,900 golf courses. By increasing the number of installation sites, we expect not only to improve the comfort of golfers driving electric vehicles, but also to increase the value of golf courses where EV chargers are installed.
