ENECHANGE installs 6kW EV Charge model in natural colors at a long-established hotel in Hakone, Kanagawa
ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce the installation of two 6kW EV Charge model with a special design to match the surrounding natural scenery in the parking lot for guests of the Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel in Hakone-cho, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
Background
ENECHANGE is on a mission to expand Japan’s EV charging infrastructure with the goal of installing 30,000 EV charging ports by 2027, to help further the shift to EVs. We focus on destination charging, where drivers top-up part of the electricity used to arrive at the destination. We have been installing EV charging ports primarily at lodging facilities and golf courses as well as leisure facilities and commercial facilities. In the office building segment, an increasing number of companies are considering the installation of EV charging port as part of their ESG initiatives to improve employee and customer satisfaction and to shift to environmentally friendly buildings. The government subsidy program “Subsidy for Promoting the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure” can be used for installation, and the introduction of these systems is accelerating, taking advantage of our Zero Yen campaign.
Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel is located in Hakone Town, Kanagawa Prefecture, and offers beautiful seasonal scenery and hot springs. As the hotel is located within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, there are restrictions on the installation of equipment for the purpose of protecting the scenery, and we have installed a 6kW charger, Charge 2 with a brown stand that corresponds to the surrounding scenery colors. The facility, Hakone Sengokuhara Prince Hotel, is aware of the current trend toward EV shift from the recent increase in the number of guests visiting the hotel in electric and PHV vehicles, and was concerned that without EV chargers, the hotel would not be an option for EV drivers to choose in the future.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Kanagawa Prefecture is 23.6, ranking 25th in Japan*. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
* Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2021), and population estimates for October 2021.
