ENECHANGE Signs Collaboration Agreement with Suita City to Expand Level 2 Charging Infrastructure

Partnering to Enhance Destination and Home-based EV Charging Capabilities

ENECHANGE Ltd. is proud to announce that it has signed a collaboration agreement with Suita City, Osaka Prefecture, for the expansion of Level 2 EV charging ports. This initiative will push forward the addition of ENECHANGE EV Charge ports at the city’s public facilities, as well as facilitate meetings with condominium associations and other stakeholders to promote the shift to electric vehicles among residents.

Background of the Collaboration Agreement

With the Japanese government’s target for low-emission vehicles to represent 100% of new passenger car sales by 2035, ENECHANGE plans to invest up to 30 billion yen by 2027 with the goal of installing 30,000 Level 2 charging ports across the country. The ENECHANGE EV Charge service not only boasts the largest number of Level 2 charging ports installed availble through an app in Japan*1, but it also has the most EV charging app users in the nation*2. ENECHANGE is actively promoting the installation of Level 2 charging ports in commercial facilities, accommodations, and condominiums, receiving widespread adoption from EV users.

Suita City in Osaka Prefecture declared a climate emergency in February 2021 and made a commitment to aim for a zero-carbon city. As a strategic approach towards the decarbonization of transportation and to bolster the adoption of low-emission vehicles, the city has entered into a partnership with ENECHANGE. In addition to the installation of charging ports in public spaces, we will also prioritize the installation of EV charging ports in multi-unit dwellings given that 75.3% of residents in the city reside in condominiums.

Contents of the Collaboration Agreement

  1. Installation of EV Charging Ports at Public Facilities
    ENECHANGE EV Charge will gradually be introduced to Suita City’s public facilities.
  1. PR Activity Amplification
    ENECHANGE will intensify PR efforts related to the installation of EV charging facilities through its own media channels.
  1. Conducting Informational Sessions for EV Charging Setups in Condominiums
    ENECHANGE will hold explanatory sessions for businesses and condominium associations in Suita City to facilitate the city-wide adoption of EVs.
