ENECHANGE launches private parking zero plan for condominiums
From today, March 9, 2023 (Thu), ENECHANGE Ltd. will begin offering a “Condominium Private Parking Zero Plan” utilizing a government subsidy. Condominiums in the Tokyo metropolitan area can take advantage of the metropolitan government’s own subsidy and pay a basic electricity rate of zero yen.
*This service is available only if the requirements for the Tokyo Metropolitan Government subsidy are met.
Background
While it is essential to improve the charging environment to expand the use of electric vehicles, progress in installing EV charging ports in apartment complexes has been slow. In response to the situation in Tokyo, where approximately 70% of households live in apartment complexes, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has set a goal of “installing 60,000 ZEV charging facilities in apartment complexes in Tokyo” by 2030, and plans to make installation mandatory for new condominiums after 2025. However, there are several hurdles in the case of condominium complexes, such as difficulty in gaining consensus among residents, lack of appropriate locations for charging ports, and who will pay the increased electricity bill, etc. ENECHANGE EV Charge was introduced in November 2022 to facilitate condominium management associations in considering the introduction of this system. We have been offering the “Condominium Zero Plan,” in which the installation cost, monthly fee, and electricity bill are all reduced to zero yen only when the system is installed in a common parking lot of a condominium building. Since the release of the plan, the number of inquiries has been increasing daily, indicating the high level of demand for the service.
About ENECHANGE’s “Condominium Private Parking Zero Plan”
ENECHANGE EV Charge will promote the development of an EV charging environment in condominium complexes by offering the “Condominium Private Parking Zero Plan,” which allows condominium management associations to install EV charging ports in private parking lots of condominiums at an all-zero cost. As with the existing Condominium Zero Plan, installation and monthly costs are zero yen, and the actual cost of metered electricity is also returned. In preparation for the mandatory installation of EV charging ports in new condominiums, we will work with real estate developers from the design stage, and will also provide support for appropriate electrical work.

- All electricity costs used for EV charging are fully reimbursed, effectively zero yen.
- The industry’s lowest condominium charging fee of 108 yen per hour* at 3kW output
- Tokyo Metropolitan Government only/No basic electricity charges when new electricity is brought in *Tokyo Metropolitan Government subsidies are utilized.
