BORN GLOBAL,
CHANGE GLOBAL

ENECHANGE was born in the Cambridge Energy Data Lab,
a research-driven institute in Cambridge, UK. Spurred by
the Great East Japan Earthquake, we set up a research lab
to consider what energy should be like in the future.
Specialists at the forefront of the fields of data, AI and
statistics from all over the world gathered there, and
spent many days discussing the future of energy based on
the utilization of energy data. That was our origin.

Now, the ENECHANGE Group pursues the same goal with global team members from more than 10 countries, based in ENECHANGE in Tokyo and SMAP ENERGY(now ENECHANGE Innovation Limited) in London, UK.

It was the ‘Born Global’ team sharing their dreams in Cambridge that allowed us to develop ‘Change Global’ – and to pursue an energy revolution in the world.

ENECHANGE Group: ENECHANGE Ltd. (founded in 2015 in Japan) and SMAP ENERGY LIMITED (founded in 2016 in the UK) were established in Japan and the UK, respectively, by colleagues who had discussions at the Cambridge Energy Data Lab. (Japan, founded in 2015) and SMAP ENERGY LIMITED (UK, founded in 2016, now ENECHANGE Innovation Limited) were merged in June 2017 to promote the ""Energy Revolution"" in the world, and are now working as the ENECHANGE Group.

100 years after the industrial revolution, we are seeing a structural revolution of energy. What the world needs now to ensure a sustainable future is to break away from being a carbon society.

It is the great tide of these ‘4 Ds of energy’ that will bring
the new innovations we need in the energy revolution.
Thanks to the energy 4 Ds, what seems obvious about energy
today is about to change.

Deregulating the energy market, digitization through smart meters,
IoT and AI technology, core electrification of reusable energy,
smart grids through the spread of electric vehicles (EV) and fuel cells.
To bring about a decarbonized society, we need all these technologies.
Thanks to them, energy will be used in radically different ways a decade from now.
The theme that ENECHANGE is constantly working on is realising the future of energy.
And since we started the company, we have been pursuing our strong belief that
the centre of this future is the utilization of energy data.

We stand for a democratised energy system without vested interests, and with our global perspective and the latest digitalization skills such as AI and big data. The ENECHANGE Group is a ‘platform company‘ that accelerates digital transformation (DX) in the energy 4 D fields.
We see applying DX technology in the field of energy as the most important part of our efforts to bring about the energy revolution.

In the world, there is a growing volume of energy data such as power consumption data, weather data and the status data of power plants in operation, but they are not fully utilised.

We comprehensively collect the enormous volume of such data and add value to it with our big data and AI technologies, in order to drive the Energy 4 Ds Revolution.

‘ENECHANGE Technology’ is a unique system that draws value out of energy data through the ENECHANGE Group’s advanced knowledge of the fields of energy technology and industry, and our big data and AI technologies.
Precise predictive technology for power consumption.
Power generation prediction algorithms for renewable energy power plants.
Optimal control technologies for charging/discharging electric vehicles and
storage batteries.
These are some of the ways in which fusing energy information with
big data and AI technology will be vital for bringing about
the Energy 4 D Revolution.

Two of our founders used to be engineers.
Half our staff are engineers. ENECHANGE is a gathering of engineers.
It is our skills with advanced big data and AI technology,
honed through research at the University of Cambridge in the UK, and
our accumulated big data as a platform company in the energy business
that lets the ENECHANGE Group provide an energy future
that can be realised through the power of technology.

Over the centuries, research at Cambridge University has changed the world dramatically.
Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Alan Turing, James Watson and Francis Crick—the great works of all those giants who have gone before us is ever-present there. Days buried in research became our start.
The ENECHANGE Group, born from this environment, will drive the Energy 4 Ds Revolution of the world through active investment and research in ENECHANGE TECHNOLOGY, our core technology.
