ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has installed its two-port Level 2 charger as part of its ENECHANGE EV Charge service at Miraiships INC, a shipbuilding company in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture.
Background and Objectives
Miraiships INC is a shipbuilding company in Kesennuma, Miyagi Prefecture, that builds and repairs mainly fishing boats, including steel vessels and small aluminum vessels. The company opened a new factory in 2019 and continues to play a prominent role in Kesennuma, a city known for its fishery industry.
The company is also highly conscious of environmental preservation and is planning to build a worker transport vessel for offshore wind power generation. This time, the company considered installing EV charging facilities to help contribute to CO2 reduction, and installed two ENECHANGE EV Charge units. The number of EV users is increasing among the company’s employees, and the company intends to provide EV charging facilities as part of its employee welfare program.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Miyagi Prefecture is 16.8, ranking 32th in Japan*2. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
*1 Basic charging refers to charging at places where drivers usually stay most frequently, such as home or business parking lots.
*2 Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2020), and population estimates for October 2020.
