- Press Release
ENECHANGE EV Charging Service to be Introduced in All 47 Prefectures
ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce that all 47 prefectures in Japan have decided to introduce our EV charging service, ENECHANGE EV Charge. Our introduction support campaign started in June 2022, aiming for an early nationwide rollout of the service, and now, within four months of the launch, we are pleased to announce that we are reaching all 47 prefectures.
Efforts for Early Nationwide Installation
ENECHANGE has been promoting ENECHANGE EV Charge EV chargers nationwide with the goal of investing up to 30 billion yen to install 30,000 EV chargers in Japan by 2027. As a result of these efforts, we were able to achieve orders for installation in all 47 prefectures in Japan*1 in about four months since the launch of our support campaign. We are focusing on destination charging, a type of chargings where EV chargers can be used for top-up charging at places where people drive to and stay for a few hours. We are actively promoting the installation of EV chargers at accommodations, golf courses, and other leisure and commercial facilities where visitors stay for two/three hours or longer.
≪ENECHANGE EV Charge Initiatives≫
1. Number of Inquiries Quadruples with Introduction Support Campaign
Since the launch of the campaign, the number of inquiries has increased rapidly because facility/parking lot owners can install EV chargers virtually free of charge by adding our unique installation support subsidy to the subsidy program*2.
2. Expanding Installation Areas through our Partner Program
We have completed alliances with over 150 sales partners and construction collaboration partners (as of October 20, 2022), and are accelerating installation throughout Japan in collaboration with these partners.
*1 Installations are being carried out in order.
*2 Applications for this year’s subsidy have been closed. We have received many applications for free installation using the subsidy for the next fiscal year, so we may close the application process early.
Accommodations and golf courses as active employers
Chargers are most commonly introduced at accommodation facilities, followed by golf courses, leisure facilities, and commercial facilities (supermarkets). Many lodging facilities are located in hot spring resorts or vacation home sites, and in some cases are open to the general public in addition to facility users, thus improving convenience for tourists visiting the area and contributing to the local community. Golf courses in Japan are actively introducing EV charging, not only because many facilities consider themselves highly environmentally conscious considering the outdoor nature of the sport, but also because of the high affinity between users and EV vehicles. Leisure and commercial facilities are strongly interested in introducing EV charging facilities, as they are planning and implementing capital investments that do not place a burden on the environment from a medium- to long-term perspective.
The cruising range of EVs is about 450 km for the most popular models, and about 200 km for light EVs. Since EVs are expected to be used for daily transportation and to travel to nearby leisure spots, commercial facilities, and lodging facilities, it is expected that the introduction of EV charging units at facilities where such use cases are anticipated will be positively considered.
