Partnership with e-Mobility Power, Conventional EV charging cards can be used at ENECHANGE charging ports from spring 2023

ENECHANGE Ltd. and e-Mobility Power.,Inc. (eMP) have entered into a business alliance agreement. The agreement is aimed at long-term collaboration for the rapid development of Japan’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, the improvement of convenience for EV/ PHV users, and the realization of sustainable capital investment and service provision.

Background and Purpose of the Alliance

ENECHANGE has been expanding the installation of 6kW regular charging ports nationwide under the service name “ENECHANGE EV Charge” since November 2021. It has developed a dedicated app for users, which allows them to use the charging ports at any time without membership registration or monthly fees. Meanwhile, eMP took over the EV/PHV charging network business from Nippon Charging Service LLC in April 2021, and is building a charging network that can be used with EV/PHV charging cards issued by vehicle manufacturers.

In response to user demand, we have formed a new alliance with eMP to enable the use of all third-party-issued charging cards within this combined network, including at ENECHANGE EV Charge charging ports*2 (scheduled to begin operation in April 2023*1).

In addition, in cooperation with eMP, we will propose to installers (facility owners) who own charging ports that were installed over 8 years agoto upgrade them with our 6kW charging ports, thereby maintaining the world of “one card, charge anywhere” and increasing the output to 6kW, expanding the domestic charging infrastructure, and increasing EV/PHV adoption. By proposing this replacement (upgrade) to 6kW chargers, we will further contribute to the expansion of the charging infrastructure and increase convenience for EV and PHV users.
