ENECHANGE Installs 6㎾ EV Chargers in Public Facilities Managed and Operated by Municipalities
ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has installed ENECHANGE’s 6kW EV chargers in public facilities managed and operated by Kitakyushu City, Fukuoka Prefecture, Miyama City, Fukuoka Prefecture, and Yokosuka City, Kanagawa Prefecture. The company will promote the municipalities’ efforts to become “Zero Carbon Cities.
Background of Installation
Each municipality is required by the national “Law Concerning the Promotion of the Measures to Cope with Global Warming” to take actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, etc., in accordance with the natural and social conditions of its area. According to the “Status of Declaration of Virtually Zero Carbon Dioxide Emissions by Local Governments by 2050” published by the Ministry of the Environment, 871 local governments have declared “zero carbon cities” as of the end of February 2023, and EV promotion has been selected and implemented as one of the initiatives.
The government has also set a goal of increasing the percentage of electric vehicles in new passenger car sales to 100% by 2035, and ENERCHANGE aims to promote this shift to EVs by investing up to 30 billion yen to install 30,000 EV regular chargers in Japan by 2027. In particular, focusing on destination recharging, which allows users to charge their EVs by adding a portion of the electricity they use for transportation, the government is actively promoting the installation of 6kW normal rechargers at commercial facilities, leisure facilities, lodging facilities, golf courses, and other places where people stay for 2-3 hours or longer. The government’s “Subsidy for Promoting the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure” can be used to subsidize the installation of these systems, and the use of our zero yen installation campaign has accelerated the introduction of these systems.
