ENECHANGE Installs 6kW EV charging ports at hospital in Gunma Prefecture For a medical practice that never takes a break, the deciding factor was the extensive after-sales support
ENECHANGE Ltd. announces that it has installed a 6kW Level 2 charging port at Keijukai Maebashi Jonan Hospital in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture.
Background
With the government’s goal of increasing the percentage of electric vehicles in new passenger car sales to 100% by 2035, ENECHANGE has set a target of investing up to 30 billion JPY to install 30,000 EV charging ports in Japan by 2027. In particular, the company is focusing on destination charging, which sees users top-up their EV after arriving at their destination, and is actively promoting the installation of 6kW charging ports at lodging facilities, commercial facilities, leisure facilities, golf courses, and other locations where people stay for 2-3 hours or longer. This includes medical facilities, as being able to charge while visiting to a hospital or doctor’s office improves convenience for patients who travel there by EV. The introduction of charging facilities at medical facilities is increasing and will further help promote a clean, net zero environment.
Maebashi Jonan Hospital, located in Maebashi City, Gunma Prefecture, is a regional multifunctional hospital which offers care based on three pillars: preventive and community medicine;, acute care based on comprehensive medical services;, and end-of-life care that accompanies patients until the end of their lives. They provide medical care with the aim of reducing the number of local patients without access to medical services. As a medical institution rooted in a community rich in nature, the hospital weighed initiatives to consider the surrounding environment and made the decision to install EV charging ports. As they provide round-the-clock medical care, it was essential that it be hassle-free after they were put into operation. They chose ENECHANGE due to its always accessible customer support system and the fact that the ENECHANGE EV Charge app automatically displays the latest charging port status, including information on full capacity and availability. The 6kW charging ports will be open to the public to contribute to the local community. Maebashi Jonan Hospital plans to introduce ENECHANGE EV Charge to other hospitals in the group in the future.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Gunma Prefecture in Japan is 28.6, ranking 15th in the country*. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
* Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2021), and population estimates for October 2021.
