ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi, PhD) is pleased to announce that, as of 1 August 2023, CEO Yohei Kiguchi has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the Keizai Doyukai(Japan Association of Corporate Executives; Representative Director: Takeshi Niinami, President of Suntory Holdings Limited; hereinafter: Keizai Doyukai)’s FY23 Energy Committee.
The Keizai Doyukai was formed in 1946, just after the end of the Second World War, and has been a driving force in Japan’s economy and society as an organization where business executives gather beyond their individual interests to consider and discuss domestic and international issues and make policy proposals. The Energy Committee is part of Keizai Doyukai, and conducts research on the development of new energy sources such as renewable energy and green hydrogen, as well as on the electricity supply networks required to utilize these sources.
As the founder of a listed company in the energy tech sector, our CEO, Mr Kiguchi, will also be actively involved in making policy recommendations necessary to realize net zero by 2050 through his activities in the Keizai Doyukais Energy Committee.
About the Keizai Doyukai
The Keizai Doyukai is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that was founded in 1946 by 83 forward-thinking business leaders, united by a common desire to contribute to the reconstruction of Japan’s economy. Since then, the Keizai Doyukai has solidified its leadership role in improving the Japanese economic community and in seeking solutions for numerous domestic issues and ensuring the overall well-being of Japanese society.
Keizai Doyukai membership comprises approximately 1,500 top executives of some 1,000 corporations, all sharing the common belief that corporate managers should be key players in formulating solutions of a broad range of political, economic, and social issues. Within the Keizai Doyukai, each member sheds their corporate identity and participates as an individual, free to express opinions and ideas unconstrained by the interest of any specific company or industry. This feature distinguishes the Keizai Doyukai from other business organizations, giving it a broad, long-term perspective and ensuring objectivity and clarity in the discussions of issues.
In-depth studies, research, and discussions provide the Keizai Doyukai with an excellent understanding of the Japanese economy and its future potential. The results of these activities influence not only government policy and industry, but society as a whole. Keizai Doyukai maintains an independent stance, supported by its own studies and research, as it pursues active and constructive dialogues with political parties, government officials, labor organizations, and individuals in many other organizations as well.
The Keizai Doyukai is deeply concerned with the challenges the world confronts today and is committed to making Japan part of the solution. This commitment is embodied in a range of activities designed to engage Japan with the rest of the world.
Comment from Yohei Kiguchi, CEO of ENECHANGE Ltd.
I am pleased to announce my appointment as Vice-Chairman of the Energy Committee of the Keizai DoyukaiI (Japan Association of Corporate Executives). The Keizai Doyukai is an organization with a long history, founded for the reconstruction and development of the post-war Japanese economy, the realization of an economically strong society, and the enrichment of people’s lives, and it is a great honour for a young CEO like me to be appointed vice-chair of the committee.
Energy issues are a priority issue to achieve net zero by 2050 and have a major impact on our lives and industry. We have made recommendations on energy policy in relation to electricity system reform and the development of EV charging infrastructure, etc. As Vice-Chairman of the Energy Committee, I will engage in extensive discussions on GX promotion and the appropriate energy mix from a broad and future-oriented perspective beyond the scope of individual companies and limited industries, and make policy recommendations for their realization.
