ENECHANGE Joins Odawara City EV Rest Stop Consortium
ENECHANGE Ltd. (hereafter: “the Company”) announces its participation in the “Odawara City EV Rest Stop Consortium,” led by Odawara City, Kanagawa Prefecture. As a consortium member, ENECHANGE will contribute to the installation of EV charging ports within Odawara City, with the shared goal of promoting widespread EV adoption among residents and attracting tourists seeking EV-friendly facilities.
Background of Participation
The government has set a goal of 100% low emission vehicles in new passenger car sales by 2035. Simultaneously, ENECHANGE has set a goal of investing up to 30 billion yen to install 30,000 EV charging ports in Japan by 2027. In particular, the Company is focusing on destination charging, and is actively promoting the installation of 6kW charging ports at commercial facilities, lodging facilities, golf courses, and other places where people stay for two hours or longer.
Expanding destination charging is crucial for boosting tourism through EV utilization, necessitating well-planned charging infrastructure and preferential policies for EVs at tourist destinations. Drawing upon its extensive expertise as the leading service provider for user-friendly Level 2 EV charging ports (*), ENECHANGE will propose the development of EV charging spots within Odawara City. Leveraging various media outlets operated by ENECHANGE, the company will also contribute to promoting sustainable tourism, starting with attracting EV users.

About the Odawara City EV Rest Stop Consortium
Selected as a decarbonization-focused region in November 2022, Odawara City has set a goal to replace 10% (approximately 9,000 vehicles) of its passenger cars with EVs by the fiscal year 2030. To achieve this, the city is driving EV adoption through initiatives such as car-sharing programs for city-owned EVs and plans to install EV charging ports for tourists.
The Odawara City EV Rest Stop Consortium is a collaboration between Odawara City and EV-related businesses. Through activities such as constructing and managing charging infrastructure within the city, analyzing usage data, and providing services and content that encourage EV use based on local power supply and demand, the consortium aims to present new value to EV users (residents and tourists alike) and the regional power system. The ultimate goal is to create an “EV rest stop town” where EVs are a common sight in daily life.
