ENECHANGE and TEPCO Group’s PinT launch electricity tariffs for the hairdressing industry with 100% renewable energy

ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi) and PinT, Inc. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Yoshiyuki Kobata; hereafter: PinT), an affiliate company of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO), have developed an electricity tariff for the hairdressing industry with 100% renewable energy*. They will start offering it through the Hairdressing and Beauty SDGs Promotion Association (President: Katsumi Hanzawa, hereafter: Ribika).

* This electricity plan offers 100% renewable energy by attaching a non-fossil certificate to the electricity that PinT procures from other companies.However, as non-fossil certificates are purchased through market transactions, it may not be possible to procure a sufficient quantity of the electricity supply.

Background

To achieve carbon neutrality in 2050, it is important not only to decarbonize the electricity sector, but also to promote energy savings on the demand side and to decarbonize the energy used. Companies can work to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by choosing electricity tariffs with 100% renewable energy sources.
ENECHANGE and electricity retailer PinT are focusing on proposing value-added electricity plans to consumers, and have developed new renewable energy-derived electricity plans, which will be available from December 2023.

RIGHT STAFF (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Naoki Fujita), which operates and manages the Mods Hair hair salon chain, a subsidiary of M･H･GROUP LTD. (Head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and Executive Officer President: Katsumi Hanzawa) will support the decarbonization of hairdressing salons by providing this service to the hairdressing industry through Ribika.

ENECHANGE has worked with Ribika since 2021 to support the hairdressing industry through advisory services, including switching to electricity derived from renewable energy sources, issuing green electricity certificates, and introducing energy-saving equipment to reduce environmental impact. By offering this electricity tariff to the hairdressing industry through Ribika, we promote green electricity in hairdressing shops and SDGs initiatives.

Environmentally-friendly tariffs for hairdressing and beauty shops

Until now, PinT has mainly offered electricity tariffs for general households. The environmentally-friendly tariff for hairdressing salons developed with ENECHANGE will be a plan based on renewable energy-derived electricity, guaranteed by a non-fossil certificate for low-voltage corporations such as hairdressing salons. This is offered to the hairdressing industry through Ribika. However, as non-fossil certificates are purchased through market transactions, it may not be possible to procure a sufficient quantity of the electricity supply.In addition to being an environmentally-friendly electricity plan, this electricity plan is less affected by market prices by using the fuel cost adjustment of the former major energy companies, so there are no significant spikes in electricity prices due to market factors, and prices are easy to understand.

​​About Hairdressing and Beauty SDGs Promotion Association (Ribika)

The aim is to support and promote environmental measures and DX for companies, including hairdressing salons and hair care product manufacturers, to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions and waste. This includes reducing consumption and waste of electricity and water, which are essential for hairdressing industry activities. The organization was established by RIGHT STAFF and a total of seven founding companies under the slogan ‘SDGs are from manners to rules, and environmental management is from costs to added value’.
