ENECHANGE EV Charge make Charging Data accessible for Users
With the aim of enhancing the charging experience of EV users, ENECHANGE Ltd. announces that it has added new features to its ENECHANGE EV Charge app. Through these new features, users can now view charging data specific to their accounts.
Background
In response to the global trend towards decarbonization, the government has set a goal of achieving a 100% ratio of zero-emission vehicles in new passenger car sales by 2035. The year 2022, marked by the rapid expansion of the EV market with the arrival of the Nissan Sakura and Mitsubishi EK Cross EV, is referred to as “the first year of EV,” and the total number of new BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) and PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) sales reached 95,426 units*.
In 2023, the introduction of competitively priced BEVs by BYD and Hyundai into the Japanese market increased the variety of vehicles available domestically, and annual new BEV/PHEV sales rose to 140,295 units*, demonstrating further growth. On the other hand, the new BEV/PHEV sales ratio remains at less than 4%*, indicating that there are still many challenges to promoting the EV shift.
* Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the “Fuel Type Sales Numbers (Passenger Cars)” from the Japan Automobile Dealers Association and the “Mini Vehicle Sales Report by Model Name” from the Japan Light Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle Association.
About the Release of Charging Data
Since 2021, ENECHANGE has been providing the EV Charging business to establish the critical EV charging infrastructure necessary for the adoption of electric vehicles. This service has been recognized for its understandable and cohesive design, earning the Good Design Award in 2023. The ENECHANGE EV Charge app, which boasts the highest user count in Japan*1, introduced a feature in December 2023 that displays a comparison with gasoline costs*2, total expenditures, and the amount of charging over specific periods. The app also provides charging activity information, such as the count of charging spots visited and the number of charging sessions since the installation of the app.
Through the app’s visualization of charging history*3, users can understand their charging frequency, which facilitates expense tracking, and see how much lower the running costs are compared to gasoline vehicles. Additionally, charging data can now be shared through social networks and other platforms via a sharing feature.
ENECHANGE will continue to promote the overall shift to EVs by enhancing the satisfaction of EV users.
*1. Number of iOS & Android downloads among five EV charging service companies (as of November 2023, according to data.ai research).
*2. In order to compare with gasoline costs, pre-registration of the vehicle model is required.
*3. Charging history does not display charges made with a charging card.
