ENECHANGE releases new feature My Energy Alert for its ENECHANGE My Energy service for households
ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi, PhD) offers the ENECHANGE My Energy service, which uses electricity data derived from smart meters across Japan to help manage electricity consumption more efficiently and support the selection of energy tariffs. In February 2024, we added a new feature to the service for households: My Energy Alert, which alerts users to changes in electricity consumption.
Background
From October 2023, the use of electricity data started in earnest, allowing companies and others to obtain and use electricity data derived from smart meters for which they have given consent, for a fee, via a certification association*1 accredited by the government. In October 2023, ENECHANGE began using electricity data to support the selection of electricity tariff plans. ENECHANGE My Energy, a service that supports the selection of electricity rate plans using electricity data, was launched with three functions for low-voltage households – My Energy Switch, My Energy Navi and My Energy Alert – and a function for high-voltage corporations – My Energy Regular Quotation. Recently, electricity tariff plans have been diversifying, making it more difficult than ever to compare electricity tariff plans, such as fixed fuel cost plans and market-linked plans*2. By using ENECHANGE My Energy, energy savings and cost reductions can be continuously checked while accumulating past electricity data.

New feature: My Energy Alert
This function notifies you by email when your electricity bill (estimated) from the beginning of the month exceeds a set amount. By receiving notifications when your electricity bill exceeds a certain amount, you can predict your monthly electricity bill and work on saving electricity and money.
*A notification email is sent when the estimated electricity bill from the beginning of the month under your registered electricity plan exceeds the set amount. The actual billing amount and the amount of notification will differ as the billing period changes depending on the date of the meter reading.
*The electricity bill notified is the amount before reflecting any discounts, etc. applied based on monthly electricity consumption.
Functions to be added in the future
- Change in usage (sudden increase) alert: notifies of changes on a daily basis (within a few days) or monthly basis (compared to previous month/year).
- Distribution of energy-saving content: energy-saving content is distributed according to the season from among the content available via ENECHANGE.
- Notification of tariff changes: you can receive notification of electricity tariff changes, preventing you from missing out on information on price increases.
Note: Registration with ENECHANGE My Energy is required to use My Energy Alert.
Future prospects
ENECHANGE will promote the efficient use of energy by strengthening and expanding services that utilize electricity data to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050, not only contributing to a decarbonized society through reduced energy use, but also through energy-saving initiatives to ensure a stable energy supply. We will promote Green Transformation (GX) through our efforts.
ENECHANGE My Energy service for households
Three features – My Energy Switch, My Energy Navi and My Energy Alert – support the optimal use of electricity in the home and the selection of electricity tariffs.
・My Energy Switch
The electricity tariff plan is automatically simulated based on actual past usage of electricity data. If the current plan is not optimal, the system prompts a switch in electricity tariff plans.
・My Energy Navi
Even if users change electricity supplier, they can continuously check their electricity usage and electricity bills and continue to save energy and money.
・My Energy Alert
Users will receive alerts when usage increases or changes, together with energy-saving information and advice on how to use electricity. Users will also be promptly informed of any planned increases in their electricity tariff.
