ENECHANGE Joins Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP), a Group Aiming to Achieve a Sustainable Carbon-Free Society
ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi; Representative Director & COO: Ippei Arita) has joined the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership (JCLP), a corporate group that aims to bring about a sustainable carbon-free society by promoting services to support the introduction of renewable energy by corporations.
Initiatives Towards Achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050
In October 2020, Japan announced the Green Growth Strategy, positioning the promotion of renewable energy as a key field. It highlights the necessity to create a stable energy supply through e.g. bringing in renewable energy to the maximum extent possible and taking thorough energy-saving measures. At the same time, large companies in particular are accelerating their moves towards environmental management, and initiatives that allow companies to use electricity from renewable sources are increasingly important. This is why ENECHANGE is actively working to support corporations with the introduction of renewable energy.
Purpose of Joining JCLP
More and more the world is moving towards carbon neutrality. As a company that works in the energy industry, joining the JCLP was a logical step because we decided to further strengthen our provision of technologies and services to make renewable energy society’s primary source of energy. Our goal is to bring about a carbon-neutral society as early as possible. This will be done by providing solutions based on the expertise and information we have, starting with support for the introduction of renewable energy so that companies — including member companies — can achieve sustainable environmental management.

*Corporate PPA refers to corporations signing a long-term Power Purchase Agreement with independent energy companies.

About the Japan Climate Leaders’ Partnership
The JCLP was founded in 2009 as an initiative unique in Japan: a group of companies that sensed danger to the health of the business community and felt they should be actively working towards achieving a carbon-free society. As of March 2021, 170 companies from a range of industries, including some of the most famous companies in Japan, have joined. The total sales of member companies are around 125.8 trillion yen, with a total electricity consumption of around 52.7 TWh (reference values/estimates including overseas consumption).
To achieve a carbon-free society, the JCLP has entered into a comprehensive liaison agreement with the City of Yokohama and, as a local partner of international non-profit organization The Climate Group, serves as an office to popularize RE100, EV100, and EP100, promoting liaisons between local authorities and overseas organizations.
