SaaS business revamped to expand use of energy and EV charging service data required in the GX era

ENECHANGE Ltd. has renewed its product lineup and strengthened its development structure by renaming its SaaS cloud service, which it has developed and provided to energy companies and EV charging service providers, as ENECHANGE Cloud.

Background

In order to achieve net zero by 2050, the Green Transformation (GX) Executive Council, chaired by Prime Minister Kishida, was established in July 2022 to promote economic reforms centered on decarbonization, and a draft basic policy for the realization of GX was compiled in December.

Since its establishment in 2015, ENECHANGE has been addressing energy issues and developing businesses that seek to further utilize energy data and contribute to the expansion of EV charging infrastructure. In August 2022, we integrated SMAP Energy,. our U.K.-based subsidiary, and transferred the development and sales operations of this product and others to ENECHANGE.
This included the development and sales of SMAP DR, a demand response (DR) service that uses smart meter data to save electricity, as well as SMAP, an electricity smart meter data analysis SaaS. These various services are each successful products with clients including energy companies and EV charging data service providers. Now, they have been gathered and further expanded under the umbrella of ENECHANGE Cloud.

About ENECHANGE Cloud

ENECHANGE Cloud has expanded its product lineup based on the 4Ds of energy: Digitalization, Decentralization, and Decarbonization, in response to demand created by the deregulation of electricity in Japan. In this rebranding and renewal, ENECHANGE Cloud will provide SaaS cloud services in the four areas of Marketing, DR (Demand Response), EV (Electric Vehicle), and RE (Renewable Energy).

Product lineup of ENECHANGE Cloud

1．ENECHANGE Cloud Marketing *Name changed from EMAP
Provides tariff simulations algorithms and tariff information APIs necessary to build tariff simulations. This product utilizes the tariff simulation algorithm used by ENECHANGE, one of Japan’s largest comparison sites, and major energy companies. As energy tariffs become increasingly complex, the product also supports unique fuel adjustment costs, etc., so that energy companies can provide their own plans to consumers in an easy-to-understand manner.

2．ENECHANGE Cloud DR *Name changed from SMAP DR
Offers a package of web and mobile application functions necessary for energy companies to implement DR (power saving programs) for households and corporates.

3．ENECHANGE Cloud EV
Development and operation of applications for EV users, based on the know-how of the EVSmart and ENECHANGE EV Charge apps as well as a service that provides nationwide EV charging port information via API. It also offers development and provision of services that can be used for general-purpose spot searches in navigation systems and applications.

4．ENECHANGE Cloud RE
Provides business support services necessary for renewable energy utilization. Provides an online platform for managing environmental value inventories and issuing green power certificates. In addition, to promote the further spread of the solar power generation installation model (corporate PPA model), which has been introduced in recent years, the company provides services to reduce the burden on business operators, from solar power generation and demand forecasting using ENECHANGE’s proprietary algorithm, calculation of forecast values, and creation of planning sites according to specified formats, to the daily creation of a wide-area energy operation plan. We are currently preparing a service that enables the daily submission of planned values to the Organization for the Promotion of Community-based Electricity Utilization (OCCTO) via API linkage.
