EV and PHV account for a record high percentage of new vehicle sales in the April-June period of 2022

Sales ratio increased for 5 consecutive quarters due to the launch of new EVs

ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi; Representative Director & COO: Ippei Arita; hereafter:“the Company) provides the following information on market trends related to the Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Service. We will enhance information disclosure to our stakeholders by promptly sharing market trends related to our business on a quarterly basis.

Changes in EV and PHV sales

In our EV Charging Service, we consider the sales ratio of EV and Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle (PHV) that use charging facilities as a key indicator of the overall adoption of electric vehicles, as the adoption of EVs is linked with the expansion of EV charging infrastructure.
According to the “Sales of Vehicles by Fuel Source (Passenger Cars)” data published monthly by the Japan Automobile Dealers Association, in Q2 of 2022 (April-June) the percentage of new EV and PHV sales reached a record high of approximately 3.3% of total sales. The year 2022 is said to be the first year of EVs in Japan, and various EVs have been newly launched by automakers. The sales ratio of EVs is expected to continue to increase in the future.
