ENECHANGE installs five 6kW EV charging ports at two JA Ichikawa stores in Chiba
ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has installed a total of five 6kW charging ports at JA Ichikawa Agricultural Cooperative’s head office and Tanaka branch.
Background
ENECHANGE is on a mission to expand Japan’s EV charging infrastructure with the goal of installing 30,000 EV charging ports by 2027, to help further the shift to EVs. We focus on destination charging, where drivers top-up part of the electricity used to arrive at the destination. We have been installing EV charging ports primarily at lodging facilities and golf courses as well as leisure facilities and commercial facilities. An increasing number of companies are considering the installation of EV charging ports as part of their ESG initiatives to improve employee and customer satisfaction and to shift to environmentally-friendly buildings. As part of our Zero campaign, we offer installation through the government subsidy program “Subsidy for Promoting the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure”. As a result, we are seeing more site hosts ordering our charging ports through this initiative.
JA Ichikawa Agricultural Cooperative covers the areas of Ichikawa, Funabashi, Urayasu, and the northern part of Kashiwa City in Chiba Prefecture, where there is a mix between residential areas and farmlands. To alleviate some of the environmental issues linked to agriculture, JA Ichikawa Head Office and JA Ichikawa Tanaka Branch have installed EV charging ports to promote the shift to EVs. Since both branches are located in residential areas, they are expected to be used not only by store visitors but also by neighborhood residents, thereby contributing to the local community. The Ichikawa City Agricultural Cooperative Association is looking to the introduction of EV charging ports as a starting point for the shift to EVs for company-owned vehicles.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Chiba Prefecture is 19.2, ranking 36th in Japan*. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
* Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2021), and population estimates for October 2021.
