- Press Release
Start of full-scale installation of Model 2, our new 6kW EV charger eligible for subsidies, with first installation at golf course in Ibaraki.
ENECHANGE Ltd. is proceeding with the full-scale sequential installation of a new 6kW-compatible regular charger model, Model 2, which is eligible for the government’s “Subsidy for Promoting the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure.” The first installation of Model 2 was completed on October 7, 2022 at Iwasesakuragawa Country Club (Ibaraki Prefecture).
Background and Objectives
ENECHANGE offers ENECHANGE EV Charge, an EV charging service specialized for destination charging, which allows customers to top-up charge at their destination. The service is being expanded to accommodations, golf courses, and other leisure facilities, as well as commercial and educational facilities. To contribute to the EV shift toward achieving carbon neutrality, we have set a goal of investing up to 30 billion yen and installing 30,000 EV chargers in Japan by 2027.
Since June 2022, in conjunction with the government’s FY2022 “Subsidy for Promoting the Introduction of Clean Energy Vehicles and Infrastructure”, ENECHANGE has covered the installation costs of EV chargers, allowing facility owners to install EV chargers for essentially zero yen.
Since October, we have been promoting the installation of Model 2 EV regular chargers that are compatible with subsidies. The Model 2 is capable of 6kW output, which is twice as fast as the conventional 3kW output of 99.7%*1 of the regular chargers used for destination charging in Japan, allowing EV users to charge their vehicles efficiently within the limited time they spend at their destination.
The first installation of the Model 2 was completed on October 7, 2022 at Iwase Sakuragawa Country Club, a golf course in Ibaraki Prefecture. The facility decided to install the chargers in response to the growing demand for EVs, which is also driving the introduction of chargers at nearby leisure facilities. Recently, golf courses and other golf-related facilities have been actively working on SDGs and installing energy-saving equipment. To help reduce the burden on the environment, there has been a rapid increase in the number of places where EV charging facilities have been introduced as necessary infrastructure, in order to encourage a shift to EVs to reduce CO2 emissions.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Ibaraki Prefecture is 23.4, ranking 17th in Japan*3. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
*1 Based on GoGoEV data, ENECHANGE survey (as of June 23)
*2 Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2020), and population estimates for October 2020.

Outline of 6kW ordinary EV charger Model 2
- 6kW double speed charging
99.7%*2 of regular chargers installed for destination charging applications have a 3kW output. A 6kW output normal charger can charge the battery more efficiently in a shorter time. As EV batteries become larger in capacity and the driving range of EVs continues to increase, the spread and expansion of 6kW normal chargers will be key to the shift to EVs. - 4G support
4G enables cloud-based control of EV chargers, which means the EV chargers can be installed anywhere without restrictions on location. Linked to a smartphone application developed by ENECHANGE, EV drivers can easily use EV charging. - Subsidy-compliant, replacement of existing chargers also eligible
The charger is compatible with government subsidies for charging infrastructure. The equipment has been certified by the Japan Automobile Research Institute Certification Center (JARI), which is subject to strict screening. Facilities that have already installed EV chargers and wish to replace them are also eligible.
