ENECHANGE EV Charge introduced at gas stations in Kyoto
ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce that, as part of its ENECHANGE EV Charge service, it has installed its first one-port charger at Matsuiyamate service station (Kyotanabe City, Kyoto Prefecture), part of Shell Sekiyu K.K.’s Osaka Sales Office.
Background and Objectives
The ENECHANGE EV Charge service focuses on destination charging: charging at locations where drivers may spend several hours and want to have a top-up charge, such as golf courses and other leisure facilities, as well as universities and other educational facilities.
In the transition to net zero, service stations are expected to play a role as a comprehensive energy center that supplies energy to EVs and PHVs in addition to gasoline. At the Matsuiyamate service station, part of the Shell Sekiyu Osaka Sales Office, one EV charging station will be installed in the car wash adjacent to the gas station to provide a combined car wash and charging service for EV drivers.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Kyoto Prefecture is 17.5, ranking 29rd in Japan*. We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
* Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2019), and population estimates for October 2019.
