ENECHANGE introduces 6kW Level 2 charging ports at Huis Ten Bosch
ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce the installation of two ENECHANGE EV Charge 6kW Level 2 charging ports at the parking lot of the theme park “Huis Ten Bosch” in Sasebo City, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Background
The government has set a goal of making the ratio of zero-emission vehicles in new car sales 100% by 2035. In order to reach this goal, the government has announced new guidelines to increase the target of EV charging port installations to 300,000 by 2030.
ENECHANGE plans to invest up to 30 billion yen by 2027 with the goal of installing 30,000 Level 2 charging ports in Japan. We are promoting the installation of 6kW Level 2 charging ports in commercial facilities, leisure facilities, and accommodations where the stay duration is 2 to 3 hours or more. Among these, leisure facilities where visitors may stay for over 6 hours are particularly well-suited to the needs of EV users who want to enjoy themselves while ensuring they can get a sufficient charge. As the adoption of EVs continues to rise, an increase in tourists using EVs as personal vehicles and rental cars is also foreseeable, boosting the demand for Level 2 charging ports at tourist destinations and leisure facilities even further.
Overview of Charging Port Installation
Huis Ten Bosch is a leading Netherlands-themed tourist attraction in Nagasaki Prefecture and is one of the largest theme parks in Japan by land area. It is renowned for its seasonal events, full-scale entertainment shows, and what is hailed as the largest illumination display in the world. They had previously introduced charging ports in anticipation of the wider adoption of electric vehicles. In considering further upgrades to their Level 2 charging ports, they opted for ENECHANGE EV Charge, which has the top*1 track record in delivering Level 2 charging ports and has the highest number*2 of app users. ENECHANGE and Huis Ten Bosch are committed to providing a comfortable charging experience for EV users visiting from across the country and to contributing towards sustainable tourism efforts that revitalize tourist spots while preserving the region’s natural environment.
The number of EVs and PHVs per 10,000 people in Nagasaki Prefecture in Japan is 27.3, ranking 35th in the country.*3 We will continue to contribute to the spread of EV charging infrastructure in cooperation with companies working to create local communities and achieve the SDGs.
*1 Based on number of installed EV charging ports by an app-based service provider (as of December 2023, according to GoGoEV).
*2 Number of iOS & Android downloads among five EV charging service companies (as of November 2023, according to data.ai research).
*3 Calculated by ENECHANGE based on the Next Generation Vehicle Promotion Center’s “Subsidy Grant Status by Prefecture,” the number of EV and PHV subsidies granted (FY 2009-2021), and population estimates for October 2022.
