ENECHANGE and Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, sign collaboration agreement to promote EV charging infrastructure

ENECHANGE Ltd. (hereafter: “the Company”) announces that it has signed a collaboration agreement with Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture,focused on the promotion of standard EV charging infrastructure within the city. The Company remains committed to supporting the development of Yuzawa City’s local community, the establishment of EV charging infrastructure, and the realization of a Zero Carbon City.

Background to the cooperation agreement

The government has set a goal of 100% low emission vehicles in new passenger car sales by 2035. Simultaneously, ENECHANGE has set a goal of investing up to 30 billion yen to install 30,000 EV charging ports in Japan by 2027. In particular, the Company is focusing on destination charging, and is actively promoting the installation of 6kW charging ports at commercial facilities, leisure facilities, golf courses, and other places where people stay for two hours or longer.

Yuzawa City in Akita Prefecture, which has declared itself a Zero Carbon City, has positioned the promotion of low-carbon next-generation transportation as one of its priority policies. As part of its efforts to improve charging infrastructure, which is indispensable for the spread of EVs, the city also concluded a partnership agreement with e-Mobility Power Co in February of this year, with a focus on fast charging. This new collaboration with ENECHANGE further extends their efforts by focusing on Level 2 (destination) charging. By promoting the installation of ENECHANGE EV Charge in city-owned accommodation facilities, etc., this partnership will improve convenience for EV users and promote the spread of EVs among citizens.

Installation of ENECHANGE EV Charge, the No. 1* 6kW charging system, at public facilities

ENECHANGE will install ENECHANGE EV Charge, the No.1 6kW Level 2 charging system, at sports, cultural, and tourist facilities in Yuzawa City. In addition, we will help systematically build the charging infrastructure in the city, including installation at the newly developed multipurpose complex near Yuzawa Station, which is scheduled to open in 2026.
