Launch of FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking

ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi; Representative Director & COO: Ippei Arita; hereafter:“the Company”) has launched its own system of environmental value certificates, known as FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking, in order to support corporations looking to procure these environmental value certificates. To mark the launch, ENECHANGE will also launch the Renewable Energy Value Campaign to present tracked FIT Non-Fossil Certificates With Tracking to customers who switch electricity contracts through our corporate electricity switching services, ENECHANGE Biz and ENECHANGE Eco.

Background and Purpose

FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking are certificates of the environmental value of electricity generated by non-fossil fuel energy sources, which are subject to the Feed-in Tariff (FIT)*1 established to promote the spread of renewable energy. The certificate is one of the three types of certificates on environmental value issued in Japan*2, and the tracking function means that the generator of the non-fossil fuel energy sources can be verified if requested. By using FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking, companies can report their progress and respond to questions from international organizations such as RE100*3, CDP*4, and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)*5. Companies listed on the Prime Market, which will effectively become the top-tier market when the Tokyo Stock Exchange restructures in April 2022, will be required to disclose reports in line with TCFD recommendations. Hence, it is becoming more and more important for companies to take action on climate change by using FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking.

Renewable Energy Value Campaign

The FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking will be offered to customers who switch their electricity contracts through our corporate electricity switching services, ENECHANGE Biz and ENECHANGE Eco. In addition to the rapid increase in global attention to net zero, we have received many queries from customers who want to start ESG investment measures or SDG initiatives, but do not know what to do. In response to this, we are issuing FIT Non-Fossil Certificate With Tracking for free during the campaign. In this way, people can become familiar with the procurement of renewable electricity simply by switching their electricity contract through us.
