ENECHANGE introduces “GPT-4” to all employees and “GitHub Copilot” to all engineers

ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi) is pleased to announce the start of company-wide implementation of “GPT-4” after a trial period, which is expected to significantly improve business efficiency in multiple areas through the utilization of AI. We aim to automate 30% of our company’s entire operations by introducing “Github Copilot” to all engineers and “ChatGPT Plus” to all employees. The draft generated by “GPT-4” was also used to create this press release.

Background

The decision to implement “GPT-4” company-wide was based on a wide range of operational efficiency needs, including the need to streamline development operations, further improve test quality, optimise database management, and increase the efficiency of marketing operations.

About “GPT-4”

“GPT-4” is the latest Large Language Model (LLM) released in March 2023 by OpenAI, a U.S. artificial intelligence research organisation. In addition to the free version available to the general public, “ChatGPT” an interactive AI that utilises this technology, is available in a paid version with advanced features, “ChatGPT Plus”, through an API. The language processing performance has been further improved from the previous generation model “GPT-3.5” and is capable of handling more complex tasks than before.

Use of “GPT-4” in ENECHANGE

We have been experimenting with the use of “ChatGPT” released in November 2022 and “GPT-4” released in March 2023 through trials by volunteers within the company. As a result, we have seen significant efficiency improvements in software development, testing, database management, marketing, and other operations.We expect that the company-wide use of “GPT-4” will improve operational efficiency by automating up to 50% of our company’s operations such as drawing design and customer support operations for EV Charging business.
We have also determined that the use of language processing technology will lead to the creation of new UX (user experience) interfaces and added value for existing services. We believe that providing our employees with an environment that allows them to be exposed to cutting-edge technology is important to maintaining a high level of competitiveness as an energy tech company, and have decided to introduce this technology to all company-wide operations.
The current engineering market is facing a chronic shortage of human resources, and we believe that the potential advantages of utilizing “ChatGPT” and “GPT-4” will be significant. By delegating tasks that can be left to AI, we are able to concentrate on tasks that only high-skilled engineers and other team members can perform and improve productivity. As such, we also expect that the introduction of “ChatGPT” and “GPT-4” will give us a significant advantage in hiring.
We will continue to review our regulations to ensure appropriate information and confidentiality management and provide educational opportunities to catch up with evolving technologies in due course.
