ENECHANGE participates in electric power data management association as board member

ENECHANGE Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has joined the Electric Power Data Management Association (hereafter referred to as the “Certified Association”), a general incorporated association established by 10 general transmission and distribution companies and 7 private companies, as a board member.

This will allow third-party organizations to use electricity data obtained from smart meters, which has been restricted under the Electricity Business Act. We will utilize this data for our comparison website business and for our Data business, including Demand Response (DR) services, which is the basis for the government’s electricity saving service.

About the Release of Electricity Data

Based on the the Electricity Business Act, the JEMAI is an association that promotes the utilization of electricity data by providing its data-using members with an environment that enables the safe and appropriate use of electricity data derived from the 80 million smart meters that have been installed since the deregulation of electric power. The full-scale open access of electricity data is underway, starting at the end of the first half of FY2023. The electricity data that will be released can be used as statistical data or personal data with the consent of the individual for purposes specified by the data user members.

Utilization of Electricity Data in ENECHANGE

We call the opening up of electricity data “electricity data liberalization” and will further strengthen and expand the following existing services toward the time of the start of provision.

1. More precise and convenient electricity and gas comparison services

The service will be utilized to improve our offering through electricity rate simulations based on users’ actual electricity consumption, proposals of optimal electricity rate plans, and electricity and energy conservation advice.

2.Reinforcement and expansion of DR service (electricity saving service)

We will introduce and deploy DR, analyze measurements, and enhance service improvements. In addition, we will be able to take the lead in providing DR services, which until now could only be provided with the cooperation of electric power companies, making it possible to expand DR services beyond the boundaries of electric power companies on a nationwidebasis.
