ENECHANGE Significantly Updates EV Charging Port Database

ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tomoya Maruoka) announces that it has updated the coordinate information for 6,194 EV charging ports nationwide on the EV charging information site “EVsmart.net” and the EV charging ports location information service “EVsmart Data API” based on its own independent investigation.

Background

Some of the EV charging spot information previously provided listed the general location of a building or facility as its coordinates, which sometimes caused discrepancies between the actual installation site and the map display when EV charging port data was updated. As a result, some users reported difficulty locating EV charging ports onsite using navigation, leading to inconvenience.

To address this issue, ENECHANGE independently investigated locations where there appeared to be a discrepancy of more than 10 meters between the registered coordinates and the actual installation site. As a result, the accuracy of the latitude and longitude information for 6,194 EV charging spots nationwide was improved. This correction has reduced the discrepancy between the actual installation site and the coordinates shown on the map to within approximately 10 meters, which we believe will make using EV chargers more convenient for users.

Future Prospects

As the adoption of EVs increases, opportunities to use EV charging infrastructure are also rising. Accurate location information is essential for EV drivers, especially when searching for EV charging ports in unfamiliar places. This update is intended to reduce users’ “charging stress” and support a more comfortable EV experience.
