ENECHANGE receives ESG debt financing from Shoko Chukin Bank
ENECHANGE Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director & CEO: Yohei Kiguchi, PhD) is pleased to announce that it has established a debt financing relationship with The Shoko Chukin Bank, Ltd. as of 30 August 2023. This debt financing is part of Shoko Chukin Bank’s wider ESG initiatives and will be used to support ENECHANGE’s EV charging business.
Against the backdrop of the Government’s target to increase the proportion of electric vehicles in new passenger car sales to 100% by 2035,ENECHANGE has set a goal of install 30,000 EV charging ports in Japan by 2027.with the goal of installing 30,000 EV charging ports in Japan by 2027. Our EV charging business is growing rapidly, with orders for 6kW EV charging ports topping 3,000 in less than a year and four months after the start of the business in November 2021, and with 6,482* cumulative orders as of June 2023.
With the global expectation for financial institutions to provide ESG-related finance that enables sustainable growth and incorporates environmental factors, the Shoko Chukin Bank has emphasized ESG promotion as a policy. The Shoko Chukin Bank has developed a debt programme to support sustainable management, and the company is contributing to carbon neutrality by promoting the electrification of mobility through the building of EV charging infrastructure. The Shoko Chukin Bank, which has a wealth of experience and a proven track record in sustainable finance, has recognised that each of ENECHANGE’s businesses accelerate the decarbonisation of Japan and the promotion of the SDGs, and contributes to the realization of a sustainable society and the enhancement of the value of our corporate clients. ENECHANGE EV Charge is an all-in-one service that allows installation of charging facilities for electric vehicles at commercial facilities, lodging facilities, and other destination locations, as well as condominiums, with minimal installation and operation costs starting at 0 yen per month.
